Hello, Spring Point. My boat is moored right off of the jetty, so I get a little nervous when I see pics and the boat isn’t in it. Where’s the boat??

Food porn from The Empire. So good. Eat here.

Oh, woah, woah, this looks great. I’m cautiously optimistic about this Chinese food option in Portland. Headed to opening Thursday.

Mason jars
Mason, or Ball, jars have so many practical uses, but when it comes down to it, they’re made for canning food to preserve it and line it on dusty, dark shelves for the winter. Being able to stock your own shelves with food you grew is a pretty fantastic, simple pleasure.

I’m a little behind on my personal canning, starting to feel seasonal produce anxiety.

Do you know how to store ginger properly? We tried 7 different methods and discovered the best way to keep ginger fresh.

Breaking: the laziest option is the most successful!
The downside? I’ve been just tossing ginger in my fridge for years and I have never been without a knob of rotting ginger.

Yes! I am a huge fan of just tossing things in the refrigerator unwrapped. Ginger is about the only produce where that actually works out though.
