Mark and I beached our kayaks. “What do you think?” he asked. “Too cold to skinny dip?”
never to cold for a maine man!
Marty brought me a cup of coffee before I’d even left the bedroom. “It snowed five inches last night but I’ve already shoveled the driveway,” he said. “Can you help me warm up?”
yeah… i think i actually have an ll bean boyfriend (not complaining).
from ball’s complete guide to home preserving: “read a recipe all the way through, even before you go shopping for the ingredients. it’s very important to have all of the ingredients and equipment ready before you start making preserves.”
HOW DO THEY KNOW?? it’s like they’re in my kitchen.

Can we take a minute just to appreciate the best photo of the President of the United States that I’ve ever seen? And by best, I obviously mean sassiest. Seriously, this could be the cover of Sassy magazine! SASSYPANTS FOR PREZ.

i mean, obviously.
still have cherries left over from my cherry pie - and vrylena recommends cherry bounce (cherries in makers mark). also found brandied cherries from playin’ with my food, which reminded me of when i worked on an organic farm in college.
the farmer would come around on cold, wet days with a jar of brandied fruit to warm you up. oh, remembered memories.
update: i did not, in fact, do anything proactive with those cherries after the pie. they just went bad in my fridge.
several months later though, cat-sitting for edible obsessions resulted in a jar of HER cherry bounce. laziness ftw.
